Choosing a Location for High School Senior Pictures : 5 Great Options

One of the main decisions to make when planning out your Senior Photo Shoot is where to have it at. This is an important decision because some of your other choices  may depend on it, like your outfit, prop, and accessory options. Since the best senior pictures are done on location, using natural light... I decided I would put together a list of my 5 favorite outdoor themes to help give you some ideas when planning out where your shoot should take place. Think about which theme might fit you best!

1. Park

This is a super easy one because there are parks everywhere to choose from. And there are so many different ones, with different looks, that you won't have to worry about them all looking the same. I am sure some people may feel certain parks are overrated and everyone uses them, but I have some great parks in my area that I use often, and I manage to get different photos each time I use them. There are a lot of different spots within every park that give you lots of options. I recommend scoping out some parks before the shoot and looking for the less obvious picture spot (those are usually the best ones!).

2. Urban  l am loving urban shoots these days! Just throw me downtown with some great old buildings and I am all set. I think the urban/city look is a popular one for seniors and it can provide a lot of different options. I mean you can literally shoot on just two blocks and have a huge variety of different backdrops (buildings, allies, and streets) that look great.

3. Farm This one's great for the good old country feel. Cowboy boots, horses, and barns make for fantastic senior pictures! Bonus points if it's your own family's farm! There is a great deal of variety of shots that can be taken on a farm too. Between using the barn and the background scenery, you will end up with a few different country looks.

4. Field Open fields are absolutely fabulous! There isn't a ton of variety that comes with the backdrops with this one, but there is a great deal of different shots you can get in a field (laying down, standing up, using props, etc.). And fields will provide you with "timeless" pictures. Nothing about a field will go out of style or look dated in years to come.

5. Industrial I am starting to like this one more and more. Not only do you get a cool background, but with a industry type environment, there is sort of this underlying theme of going out into the real world and making a name for yourself. It just seems appropriate for this time in a senior's life! What's not to love?
